AUTHOR GUIDE The Sample Manuscript Authors are asked to submit a typed (word processed) proposal that provides the publisher with complete information about themselves and the proposed book. For full consideration, the following information is requested:
Authors may submit additional text, but Infosential Press does not return submitted material. Authors who do not submit sufficient information about the proposed work as requested above should understand that this may lessen the chance of acceptance.
There is no prescribed format for the proposal and author/contributor information requested above. (If the manuscript proposal is accepted, Infosential Press and the author shall agree on the style and format appropriate for the work.)
Copyright and Other Rights The author(s) ordinarily retain copyright; however, Infosential Press retains the right to publish the work in any format, including electronic, and by any means of distribution it deems best for intended market. Contributors to an edited work must ordinarily agree to transfer the copyright for their texts to Infosential Press and agree to waive royalty rights if and when their contribution is published as proposed.
Evaluation of the Proposal Every attempt will be made to fully evaluate the proposal within one month of its receipt by Infosential Press. If accepted, you will negotiate a due date, format, style, etc., as well as any changes in content from the proposed manuscript with the President of Infosential Press.
Contract For new authors, negotiating the terms of a contract will ordinarily add another month beyond the evaluation process. For established authors, this time frame may be considerably less.
Royalty Payments Ordinarily, Infosential Press pays the standard author royalty, or ten percent of net sales. For some projects, Infosential Press may require the author or sponsoring agency to share in production costs and agree to a different royalty schedule. As a custom publisher, Infosential Press can agree to special arrangements, including, for example, contributing royalties to a scholarship or other special fund or charity designated by the author. For associations or organizations, waiver of the royalty can result in a lower sales price.
Evaluation of the Final Manuscript Assuming that the author(s) submit the manuscript as proposed and follow the style and format agreed to with the publisher, the manuscript will move into the editing phase. The length of this process depends on a such a wide variety of factors that no estimate can be provided. During this stage, the primary author or editor will be required to respond to questions of the editor, make requested stylistic changes, and resubmit the manuscript within three to six weeks, depending upon the extent of those changes. For new authors, this process may entail multiple submissions and changes by the author until the content, style, and format are accepted. For experienced authors who may have submitted camera ready copy to other publishers, Infosential Press may be able to make minor stylistic or editorial changes.
